Bert A. Kobayashi , Advisory Council Member

Bert A. Kobayashi is the founder of Kobayashi Group LLC, and is the Chairman of Kobayashi Development Group LLC. He holds a Hawaii Contractors License and has over 40 years of construction experience, including 33+ years as a real estate developer. Mr. Kobayashiıs development experience includes residential, commercial and government projects, including West Loch Estates subdivision, Kapolei Middle School, Kapolei High School, Kapolei Civic Center, Hokua at 1288 Ala Moana condominium, Kukio Beach and Golf Resort, and Capitol Place condominium to name a few.

Mr. Kobayashi devotes much of his time serving on the boards of the following organizations: American Savings Bank (Board of Directors), Alexander C. Waterhouse Foundation (Director), Sennet Capital (Board Member), and Westye Advisory Board (Board Member).

He has previously served on numerous boards such as Georgetown University (Board of Regents), University of Hawaii at Manoa (Board of Regents), University of Hawaii Foundation (Board of Trustees), Bishop Museum (Board of Directors), Ronald McDonald House (Board of Directors), and Kapiolani Health Foundation (Board of Trustees).

He has also served on many fundraising committees including the American Heart Associationıs Heart Ball, Child & Family Services Anniversary Campaign, March of Dimesı Governors Ball, UH Foundation Centennial Committee and more.

Mr. Kobayashi was the recipient of the Charles Reed Bishop Medal Award in 2004, was named the Business Leader of the Year in 2002, and was the 1994 Georgetown Universityıs Patrick Healy Award Recipient. The State of Hawaiiıs Senate and House of Representatives recently recognized him for his leadership and contributions to the people and State of Hawaii (2008). In addition, together with his wife Susan, they were both honored by the Historic Hawaii Foundation for their personal commitments to education, ohana, healthcare, and culture to enhance the communities of Hawaii in ways both large and small.
